Fiat Stilo – the nightmare continues…

Hi, I thought I would start to share the day to day nightmares with our bloody fiat stilo 1.6 2002.
If your a stilo owner and reading this then you know only to well the headaches this car causes you with its doggy Italian electronics!!!

We recently started to get the the following engine fault error code p1121 MAP sensor signal fault. This was causing the car to cut out, unable to idle correctly.

After doing some digging I found this is was not the MAP sensor that was at fault ( I haste to add would have cost £80 to replace) it turns out that a simple throttle body inlet clean was all that was need to resolve.

Below is a couple of pictures of what needs to be cleaned to resolve the problem. All that’s needed is some good old WD40 and a rag. Remove the inlet from the engine completely, this helps to clean both sides of the inlet. Use a screw driver to open the valve and clean the rim where the valve meets the outside.

Put the inlet back together. Ensure you clear the fault light before starting the car.

Good luck!
